The tragic loss of a well-known celebrity can often be difficult to accept. To cope with the grief friends, family, and fans, often try to rationalize the incident to better fit their understanding. Often times, these attempts at rationalization transform themselves into conspiracy theories which open doors to a world of other possibilities. While many of these conspiracy theories end up being extremely unbelievable, some of them have made people second guess the truth surrounding certain incidents. Amazingly, many of these theories have managed to transcend time, and continue to be the topic of discussion decades after the person’s passing. 10. Amelia Earhart
Although she was never able to reach her full potential, Amelia Earhart will go down in history as the most legendary female pilot of all-time. Unfortunately, Earheart disappeared in 1937 while flying solo across the Atlantic Ocean. Although her body was never recovered, she has since been pronounced dead and there has been a cloud of mystery surrounding her disappearance. One of the leading conspiracy theories regarding Earhart’s final journey suggests that she survived the flight and assumed another identity.

9. Marilyn Monroe
Marilyn Monroe was once the most popular actress of her time. However, when she passed away in 1962 at just 36 years old, her death become the center of many conspiracy theories. According to some, Monroe’s death was orchestrated by the Kennedy family, with whom Monroe had been close during her career. Many believe that they had a motive because of their alleged affairs with Monroe, which may have resulted in the sharing of political secrets.

8. John F. Kennedy
When former United States President, John F. Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, the whole country was stunned and saddened. Shortly after his assassin was revealed, people began to speculate that the murder was part of a larger conspiracy. While there are several theories surrounding Kennedy’s death, most of them suggest that the United States government was in on the plot to end his life.

7. Paul McCartney
Paul McCartney may be one of the only living people whose death has already been turned into a conspiracy theory. According to some, the ‘real’ McCartney was killed in a car accident in 1967, and in an effort not to break up The Beatles, the remaining members found a look-alike to take his place. Throughout the late 60s the rumor continued to grow, until McCartney was forced to address it. During an interview with Life Magazine in 1969, McCartney stated, “Perhaps the rumour started because I haven’t been much in the press lately. I have done enough press for a lifetime, and I don’t have anything to say these days. I am happy to be with my family and I will work when I work. I was switched on for ten years and I never switched off. Now I am switching off whenever I can. I would rather be a little less famous these days.”

6. Bruce Lee
Bruce Lee was once one of the biggest action film stars in the industry. However, his untimely death brought a tragic end to his career. Since his death, several theories have been spread regarding the incident. Although the official story is that Lee died after taking a pain pill, other’s believe that there may have been some foul – even supernatural – play involved.

5. Princess Diana
The entire world mourned when Princess Diana was tragically killed in a car accident in the summer of 1997. Although the official story is that Diana’s car was run off the road trying to escape paparazzi, many believe that there was a more sinister motive at work. Following her death, several sources claimed that Diana’s death was orchestrated by the British government and the royal family as a result of her extramarital affair with Dodi Fayed.

Although it’s been nearly four decades since his death, legendary musician Elvis Presley has remained at the forefront of many people’s thoughts. Although his death was ruled the result of “violent heart attack” many conspiracy theorists suggest that Presley’s death was actually not a death at all. Dubbed the “King of Pop” Michael Jackson will always be remembered as one of the greatest and most talented entertainers of all-time. Although his life off-stage was tarnished with several personal tragedies and allegations of sexual abuse, Jackson’s talent remained undeniable, and many fans continued to root for him. In 2009, when Jackson suddenly passed away while preparing for his comeback tour, many believed that his death was not as accidental as suggested. Legendary rapper, Tupac, was shot after leaving a boxing match in 1996. Although the case initially seemed cut-and-dry, many believe that Pac’s death is not at all what it seems. Some suggest that the rapper’s death was a cover up, and that Tupac actually survived the incident and went into hiding. Other’s believe that Tupac’s close friend and business partner, Suge Knight, was involved in the plot to kill Tupac.
