  • For his work in the 1984 comedy-drama film Sharaabi, Bappi Lahiri won the Filmfare Award for “Best Music Director” in 1985.
  • In the year 1986, he entered the Guinness Book of World Records for recording over 180 songs for 33 films.
  • In 2014, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the presence of Rajnath Singh and was declared a BJP candidate from Sreerampur (Lok Sabha constituency) in West Bengal for the 2014 Indian general election. However, Bappi Lahiri lost to Kalyan Banerjee of All India Trinamool Congress.
