Ahead of the release of their EP Kaleidoscope next week, Coldplay have unveiled another of its tracks called ‘A L I E N S’.
‘A L I E N S’ was co-written by Brian Eno, who has worked with artists such as The Gift. The track was also co-produced by Eno and Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons, Kings of Leon). ‘A L I E N S’ is laden with a hypnotic beat which captures your attention straight away. The song is unlike any recent Coldplay offering, although it still carries the band’s trademark anthemic quality in addition to Chris Martin’s distinct vocal.
All proceeds from ‘A L I E N S’ will go to Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS), a “Malta-based registered charity dedicated to preventing the loss of life by providing professional search-and-rescue services along the world’s deadliest border crossing – the sea”. Coldplay are patrons of the charity, which has rescued and assisted over 39,000 men, women and children in the Central Mediterranean and Aegean since its launch in 2014.
Coldplay have kept to their recent tradition by unveiling an animated lyric video for the song. Directed by Diane Martel and Ben Jones, the visual is a multicoloured space extravaganza with the lyrics being typed at the bottom of the screen.

‘A L I E N S’ is taken from the band’s forthcoming five-track EP Kaleidoscope. Produced by Rik Simpson with Daniel Green and Bill Rahko, it will be available to download and stream from next Friday (July 14), with a CD and vinyl release to follow on August 4.
The EP will include the following tracks:
