It has been eight whole years since Lady Gaga exploded onto the music scene with her massive debut single, ‘Just Dance.’

The Grammy nominated track, released April 8th 2008, has become one of the biggest selling songs of all time, selling over 10 million copies worldwide and being certifies 8x platinum within the United States.

In an interview with contactmusic, Gaga had this to say about the track;

“Just Dance is a happy record and is supposed to be appreciated by people going through rough times like losing jobs and homes etc.”

She has also claimed that she wrote the track in just ten minutes while feeling very hung-over. We wish we were capable of writing a multi-platinum hit in ten minutes, too! Gaga should totally teach us her technique!

Since 2008, we have watched Lady Gaga dominate the charts worldwide with other huge hits such as ‘Pokerface,’ ‘Bad Romance’ and ‘Telephone.’ As of January 2015, she has sold an estimated 27 million albums and 146 million singles worldwide. Making her one of the best selling artists of all time.

Over the span of her career, she has been nominated for a staggering 444 awards, of which she has been awarded 220. This includes six Grammy Awards, including ‘Album of the Year’ and a Golden Globe for ‘Best Actress’ for her role in ‘American Horror Story: Hotel.’

Despite all of her crazy antics, such as the ‘meat dress’ scandal of 2010, Lady Gaga seems to have slipped off of the mainstream radar, allowing her musical style to drift away from the infectious electropop. In 2014, she released a jazz album alongside Tony Bennett that was awarded the Grammy for ‘Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album’ at the 2015 ceremony.
