Former Love Island UK host Caroline Flack’s cause of death has been revealed. According to police, the 40-year-old died from suicide by hanging in her London home on Saturday, February 15th.

Page Six is reporting that someone flagged down police outside of Flack’s home in the Stoke Newington area of London, and officers found the TV host lying on her back. This information was relayed to the Poplar’s Coroner’s court on Wednesday.

“She had apparently been found hanging,” said coroner’s officer Sandra Polson.

After first responders attempted to revive Flack, she was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:36 p.m. She was later identified by her twin sister, Jody. An autopsy was performed, and the coroner determined that Flack’s official cause of death was “suspension by ligature.” The inquiry into Flack’s death has been adjourned until August 5th.

Flack committed suicide just one day after prosecutors told her that they were officially charging her with domestic violence after police arrested her in December over an incident she claimed was an accident. Her boyfriend, Lewis Burton, had requested that prosecutors drop the case, but they refused.

Flack’s family has released an unpublished Instagram post that she wrote hours before her death. They say that she was advised not to publish the heartbreaking message where Flack explained how her “whole world and future was swept from under my feet” after her arrest.

“I have always taken responsibility for what happened that night,” Flack wrote about the December fight with Burton that left the pair covered in blood. “But the truth is … It was an accident.”

Flack added that she’d been having “some sort of emotional breakdown for a very long time.”

After Wednesday’s court hearing revealed the details surrounding Flack’s death, Burton posted a picture of himself with his late girlfriend and added a broken-heart symbol to his caption.

“My heart is broken we had something so special,” wrote Burton. “I am so lost for words I am in so much pain I miss you so much I know you felt safe with me you always said I don’t think about anything else when I am with you and I was not allowed to be there this time I kept asking and asking.”

He added that even though nothing will bring her back, he will always be Flack’s voice, and he will ask the questions she wanted to ask so he can get the answers. Burton said he wants to make her proud everyday, and he loves Caroline Flack with all of his heart.
