Roselands, Sydney: Manhunt continues after Ghassan Longs death in park brawl

Police have made an urgent appeal for witnesses following a fatal park brawl in Sydneys southwest earlier this year. Ghassan Long, 24, was stabbed multiple times in Leonard Reserve in Roselands on the evening of Thursday, February 23.

Police have made an urgent appeal for witnesses following a fatal park brawl in Sydney’s southwest earlier this year.

Ghassan Long, 24, was stabbed multiple times in Leonard Reserve in Roselands on the evening of Thursday, February 23.

He was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.

Emergency services were called to the park about 9.50pm after receiving reports of a brawl and, following the death, launched an investigation under Strike Force Poton.

A 21-year-old. a 20-year-old and a 22-year-old man were all later charged in relation to the incident and remain before the courts.

They were charged with affray and concealing a serious indictable offence; affray, concealing a serious indictable offence and hindering an investigation; and affray respectively.

On Thursday, police released CCTV of a group of men seen in the Roselands area who they believe may be able to assist with their investigation.

The men are all in their 20s and can be seen wearing dark clothing.

Police would also like to speak to the driver of a white Toyota Corolla seen in the area at the time of the incident.

Any witnesses who may have been near Gunyah Crescent, Myers St or the Leonard Reserve areas in Roselands between 9pm and 10.30pm on February 23 have also been asked to come forward.

Members of the public who otherwise have information regarding the incident have been urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
